K-12 Admissions Criteria

Partnering with Families Who Share Our Christ-Centered Mission

Education is a partnership between the home, the church, and the school. Our K-12 Admissions Criteria exist not as barriers, but as a blessing—designed to ensure that your children are positioned to thrive in a like-minded, Christian community.

This intentional admissions process allows us to walk forward in unity, with shared purpose, clear expectations, and mutual encouragement.

Finding the Right Fit — Together

Our K-12 Admissions Criteria are designed to help families and the school determine if we’re a good match for one another. That mutual clarity is a gift, not a gate.

Before we walk through those specific criteria, it's helpful to first consider the kind of families who tend to thrive in our community.

We share this in love, humility, and confidence, knowing that God calls different families to different places, and we want to honor that with honesty and kindness.

Who Thrives at HCA

List of 5 items.

  • 1. Families Who Value Christian Education

We are not Christian in name only. At HCA, we are unapologetically Christ-centered in every classroom, every subject, and every decision. We believe God’s Word is not just a supplement to education—it is the foundation. A biblical worldview is woven into math problems, history lessons, literature discussions, and science labs. If you’re seeking an environment where faith is fully integrated and not just occasionally mentioned, you’ll feel right at home here.
  • 2. Families Who Want to Partner in Discipleship

We believe that parents are the primary disciplers of their children, and the school’s role is to come alongside—not replace—that calling. Our covenant model means every HCA family is walking the same path together: home, school, and church, united in mission. When this partnership is strong, students flourish in both faith and character.
  • 3. Families Who Desire Strong Community

HCA is more than a school—it’s a family. From carline conversations to classroom prayers, fall festivals to senior nights, we cultivate a joyful, connected culture where parents are known, supported, and invited to belong.
  • 4. Families Who Embrace Excellence with Purpose

We’re committed to preparing students for college and beyond, but not for the sake of achievement alone. Our students are taught to pursue excellence in all things for God’s glory—academically, artistically, athletically, and spiritually. If you want your child to be challenged, supported, and shaped for lifelong impact, HCA may be just the right place.
  • 5. Families Who Affirm a Biblical View of Marriage and Gender

At HCA, we joyfully affirm the Bible as the authoritative Word of God and uphold a biblical view of creation, humanity, gender, marriage, and truth. These convictions are woven into every aspect of our school life. Families who share and support this biblical foundation thrive in our community, while those with differing beliefs may find a better fit elsewhere.

ADMISSIONS CRITERIA

Our K-12 Admissions Criteria help ensure that families and students are positioned for success, spiritually supported, and fully aligned with our mission.

Below are the primary areas we prayerfully consider in each application:
Spiritual Commitment Criteria:
  • At least one parent/guardian is a member of and actively attends in-person worship services at an evangelical Christian church.
  • The church must affirm the Bible as God’s only inspired, inerrant, and authoritative Word in its original autographs and teach that personal faith in Jesus Christ (and His finished work) is required for the forgiveness of sins and is the only means with which one can be made right with God.
  • A desire for their child to grow in faith, wisdom, and character through a Christ-centered education.
Application Materials:
  • A signed agreement with HCA’s Statement of Faith.
  • Family Spiritual Commitment Form completed by one parent/guardian.
  • A Church Partnership Form completed by your pastor.
Why Spiritual Commitment Matters:
We are a Christ-centered school through and through. Our biblical worldview shapes every subject, activity, and interaction—not just occasionally, but intentionally and consistently. For this to take root in students’ hearts and lives, we must walk in unity with both the home and the church.

When doctrinal alignment exists across all three—church, home, and school—students experience clarity, consistency, and confidence in their faith. This spiritual unity builds trust, reinforces truth, and protects the mission of HCA. Our admissions process helps ensure that what students hear at school will support and strengthen what they are learning in church and at home.
HCA's Commitment to Your Family:
  • We will teach every subject from a biblical worldview.
  • We will disciple students daily in truth, grace, and Christlike character.
  • We will model Christian faith through faculty, leadership, and community rhythms.
  • We will pray for our students and partner with you in their spiritual growth.

Does Your Church Align with HCA?

List of 2 items.

  • Denominations That Align with HCA's Statement of Faith

HCA requires membership and active participation in a church that aligns with our doctrinal standards. Here is a list of denominations that reflect the biblical convictions and values we uphold. (This list is just a guide. If your denomination is not listed or you are unsure, please contact our admissions team. We would be happy to answer your questions and help.)
    • Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) – The denomination of our ministry partner, Redeemer Presbyterian Church.
    • Other Presbyterian denominations with strong theological alignment (e.g., EPC, OPC)
    • Bible Churches
    • Gospel-centered non-denominational churches
    • LCMS or WELS Lutheran Churches
    • Southern Baptist and other conservative Baptist churches
    • Wesleyan-Holiness or Restorationist churches that affirm our core doctrinal beliefs (e.g., Church of the Nazarene, Christian Church)
    • Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA)
    • Charismatic evangelical churches (e.g., Assemblies of God, ARC-affiliated)
  • Theological Differences That Prevent Alignment

Some churches may hold to core doctrinal beliefs that are not aligned with HCA’s Statement of Faith.

Here are some of the most common areas of doctrinal misalignment:
If you’re unsure whether your church aligns with our beliefs, this list can serve as a helpful guide. We also encourage you to reach out -- our Admissions Team is trained and eager to help answer questions with grace and clarity.
Please Note: If you are new to the area or between churches, please contact our Admissions Team. While exceptions are considered carefully, an extension may be offered during your transition as you pursue meaningful church connection and demonstrate spiritual commitment.
Academic & Behavior Criteria:
  • Students who show academic readiness and appropriate grade-level proficiency.
  • A pattern of respectful, teachable behavior and willingness to grow.
  • Learning needs that can be supported within HCA’s current academic structure.
  • Alignment with our student conduct expectations and spiritual mission.
Application Materials:
  • A reference from the student’s current or most recent school, if applicable.
  • Academic records documenting the student’s educational and behavioral history.
  • Submit any current IEPs or 504 Plans so our team can assess whether we can meet the student’s academic and social-emotional needs.
  • Complete any admissions testing requested by HCA, if questions remain regarding academic readiness or behavioral fit.
Why Academic & Behavior Standards Matters:
We are committed to academic excellence and spiritual formation, but we are not a remediation or therapeutic program. While we support students with learning differences as we’re able, we want to be honest about our limitations so families can make informed decisions. Reviewing IEPs and 504s helps us discern whether we can provide the necessary support for your child to truly flourish.
HCA's Commitment to Your Family:
  • We will provide Christ-centered academic instruction that challenges and supports.
  • We will foster a safe, respectful learning environment for all students.
  • We will communicate clearly about academic progress and behavioral concerns.
  • We will approach discipline with restoration and grace.
Parent Partnership Criteria:
  • Parents who affirm and support HCA’s Christ-centered mission and leadership.
  • Families who desire meaningful partnership, not just academic services.
  • Active involvement in a local church community.
  • A heart for prayer, volunteering, and contributing to school life.
  • A willingness to engage with humility and pursue unity through biblical conflict resolution (Matthew 18:15–18).
Parent Partnership Demonstration:
  • Through your family interview with school leadership.
  • In your church reference and application responses.
  • By expressing alignment with HCA’s mission, values, and expectations.
  • Through a posture of respect, humility, and partnership during the admissions process.

Why Parent Partnership Matters:
Students grow best when their parents are spiritually engaged, living in Christian community, and partnering in prayer and service. When concerns arise (as they do in any community), we ask families to walk in humility and truth by following the biblical model of peacemaking. A strong parent-school partnership rooted in grace, truth, and mutual respect is essential to the flourishing of every student and our community as a whole.
HCA's Commitment to Your Family:
  • We will honor the voice and role of parents as primary disciplers.
  • We will seek to partner with humility, grace, and mutual respect.
  • We will communicate with transparency and invite feedback.
  • We will build a joyful, connected community where families are known and supported.
