ACADEMICS

Heritage Christian Academy is committed to providing a high standard of academic excellence for its students, while developing Christ-like character in them. To achieve this, we utilize a superior curriculum and maintain a community of outstanding teachers with a strong commitment to Jesus Christ, His word, and His church.

At Heritage Christian Academy, we partner with parents to help their students build numerous vital skills and qualities needed for the next stage—indeed, all—of life:

A CHRISTIAN WORLDVIEW

Students will learn to see all of reality in light of God’s Truth, and how that Truth should inform their decisions. They will do more than acquire information — they will learn wisdom.

ACADEMIC RIGOR

Students will be taught important study habits and organizational skills to help them succeed in high school and beyond. They will do more than learn how to pass a test — they will develop a love of learning.

CHRIST-LIKE CHARACTER

Students will learn and “do” Christian theology, cultivating the mind, heart and habits of a disciple of Jesus Christ. They will do more than learn ethics — they will build Christian virtue.

SPECIALTY DIPLOMAS

Heritage Christian Academy offers specialty diplomas for students wishing to deepen their learning in either the STEM field or a particular fine art. Inquire at the front office for more information.

STEM PROGRAM

SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING AND MATH

We live in a technologically advanced world with an ever-growing demand for highly skilled professionals in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). At the same time, there is increasing concern among education, business and government leaders that we are not building a workforce prepared to meet the challenges of the future. In addition, STEM training supports the competencies required of a 21st Century education: critical thinkingcreativitycollaboration and communication. As a part of our educational calling to equip students to be servant leaders in their world, HCA is committed to providing a quality STEM-based educational program for our students.

LEARNING TECHNOLOGY

Heritage Christian Academy makes strategic and careful use of technology to enhance learning and equip students for vocation and citizenship in the world they inhabit today as well as the world they will inherit tomorrow. There are two primary motivations behind this commitment:

  • The development and use of 21st century skills is consistent with our role as image-bearers of God as we demonstrate creativity, critical thinking, collaboration and communication.
  • The 21st century workplace demands that we train our students to be excellent in these skills as we develop their expertise in the content areas.
Technology is the creative activity of using tools to transform God’s creation for practical purposes.
—Tim Challies, The Next Story: Faith, Friends, Family and the Digital World

HOW WE USE TECHNOLOGY IN THE CLASSROOM

In general, our approach is to increase exposure to and reliance upon digital technology as students advance through the grade levels. The following is an overview of how digital technology is used at each school level.

HOW WE PROMOTE ONLINE SAFETY

HCA utilizes robust content filtering technologies on student networks at all times to protect students from harmful content while on campus. In addition, students are introduced to digital citizenship concepts.

DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP RESOURCES

Technology is a powerful tool that can be both empowering and destructive, depending on how it is used. Stewarding it well requires vigilance and wisdom. We periodically share resources on our blog to help equip parents and caregivers to use digital technology in a safe, constructive and Christ-honoring way.
